We Are SO Derby

SO Derby is the Rogue Valley’s first skater-run, skater-owned nonprofit 501(c)(3) roller derby league. Our skaters come in all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds, each bringing their own strength, voice, and unique perspective to the league.

More than just a team, SO Derby is a sanctuary. It is a place where members train, mentor, and lead. With the support of our family, fans, and friends, we’re making Southern Oregon louder, stronger, and a whole lot more awesome.

So Derby. So Great. Let’s skate!

Our History

Founded in 2009 as Southern Oregon Roller Girls, the league began with a small group of skaters meeting two nights a week at the Medford Armory. As the only Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) league in Southern Oregon, SORG quickly became a cornerstone of local derby.

In early 2016, the league rebranded as Southern Oregon Derby (SO Derby) to reflect a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and growth, welcoming new members from all walks of life.

About WFTDA

The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association was founded in 2004 to provide structure and standards for the fast-growing sport of roller derby. With a philosophy of “By the skaters, for the skaters,” WFTDA offers a unified ruleset, membership requirements, and competitive opportunities. Today, nearly 400 leagues worldwide are part of WFTDA.
